Without a doubt, art is powerful. It is powerful in how it has the ability to move the viewers and it is powerful as a means for creators to express themselves. Art is also one of the most powerful tools for healing because it forges a connection between body and mind creating a space for dialogue when words are not sufficient or even available.

Just as beauty can be found in darkness, beauty can come from darkness and the elaborate drawings of our latest Featured Artist, Mary Pat Nally, is a prime example of this. As a self-taught artist, Nally has been creating beautifully perplexing patchworks of monochrome and hypnotic webs of technicolor over the past nine years as a form of meditation bringing her to a place of peace she considers “a real gift while living with PTSD.”

My process, as an intuitive artist, is an invitation to allow the best parts of me to come alive. I step back and allow my creative spirit to flow through my hands and onto the paper.

The inspiration for my art pieces is rooted in my own connection to myself, others and the world. I often choose a Sharpie marker, paint, or gel pen on watercolor paper as a way to express myself. It is my hope that those who connect with my art might come to a deeper connection within themselves.
