NEWS: Now Streaming, February 2022
February is in full force, and in addition to the new galleries arriving on the app this month, we have some great suggestions for streaming from our existing collection that honor Black History Month.
Celebrating the remarkable and vibrant stories of important people and events in the history of the African diaspora, we recommend starting with the gallery Black History Month found in the History category. For a beautiful compilation of artworks from some of the most prominent Black artists of the early 20th century, such as Horace Pippin and Jacob Lawrence, we have Harlem Renaissance, a gallery highlighting this important cultural movement and revival of African-American art that lasted from the end of World War I until the mid-1930s. Praised for his biblical paintings and depictions of life as an African-American, Realist Henry Ossawa Tanner (1859-1937) was the first Black artist from the United States to receive international acclaim who you can find a dedicated collection to in the Classical Art category as well as one showcasing the vibrant folk art of William H. Johnson.
Share with us which one you enjoy most along with any other recommendations of talented Black artists from history to contemporary which you’d like to see featured on Artcast and have a quick look below to see what else is new and streaming since last month.
